“I’m getting the fight that I wanted, and the fight that people want,” O’Malley said.

“I’m so excited for this. I almost can’t even believe it’s real, it’s happening.”

Yan could not officially defend his belt and lost it against champion Aljamain Sterling because an illegal knee.

After that, in their rematch, when many thought that Yan would finish Sterling. Sterling reminded the world how good he was on the ground and controlled him for the whole five rounds.

Yan is a former interim and undisputed bantamweight champion but failed to win the undisputed title fight for the second time.

At UFC 276 versus Pedro Munhoz, O’Malley’s fight resulted in a no contest because of an unintentional eye poke. He suffered only one defeat against Chito Vera, where he suffered a leg injury and could not continue the fight.

In his latest five victories, he earned all five TKO/KO wins.
