Sean Strickland Moves Up To No. 8 In Middleweight Ranking
After defeating Uriah Hall, Sean Strickland climbed to the No. 8 position in the middleweight rankings.
Strickland bounced back from a big injury and was able to defend his undefeated record in the division. He easily beat up his rivals and settled himself as the top contender.
The last time when he fought, he was considered a favorite according to betting odds, but there were not many people who expected domination against Hall, a striker with a reach advantage.
Hall suffered his 10th loss in his MMA career. He fell down two positions and is the No. 10 ranked contender among the middleweights.
This is how rankings are generated, according to UFC.
“Rankings were generated by a voting panel made up of media members,” it wrote. “The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC. A fighter can appear in more than one weight division at a time.”
“The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.”
