Security Intervenes As Ryan Garcia And Devin Haney Clash At Super Bowl Press Event

Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney had to be pulled apart during an altercation at the Super Bowl media center at the Super Bowl Radio Row in Las Vegas

The two reached a deal to box each other on April 20 after talks had initially failed. Garcia withdrew from negotiations the first time around to secure a bout with Rolando Romero. That failed to materialize as Rolly inked a deal to fight Isaac Cruz on the Keith Thurman vs Tim Tszyu card.

With Garcia short of options, he resumed talks with Haney as both sides got a deal over the line. They have fought six times in the amateurs, with a 3-3 record. To build up the fight, Garcia and Haney squared up to each other. Garcia pushed Haney as security intervened to separate them during a heated exchange, as Bill Haney was also in the melee.

Garcia: “Your dad is a p**p, and he’s p***ing you. I’m gonna beat you! I’m gonna beat you! P****! You suck! Your dad can’t talk for you, your dad can’t save you.”

Haney: “I beat the s*** out of ‘Tank’. I’ll beat the s*** out of you.”

The incident had been made worse by news that Garcia’s home had been burgled while he was at the media center.
