Sergio Pettis Out, Juan Archuleta In To Face Raufeon Stots At Bellator 277

Sergio Pettis was supposed to headline the event of Bellator in April and defend his belt against Raufeon Stots (17-1-0), but was forced to pull out due to an unclear injury.

Former champion Juan Archuleta will replace him and share the cage with Stots for the interim title.

Stots only has one loss in his career.

He suffered that loss in 2017 against Merab Dvalishvili when UFC’s top bantamweight contender landed a spinning back fist at the beginning of the round. Now he is in Bellator and has a five-fight winning streak in this promotion and nine overall in his career.

In his latest fight, he defeated Magomed Magomedov, the former ACB champion, and defeated Petr Yan in ACB.

Stots has displayed his wrestling skills. His biggest weapon is his ability to control and hold his rivals on the ground.

Archuleta (25-3-0) is a former champion of Bellator who has fought nine times in the promotion, suffering just two defeats.

The first time he was defeated by Patricio “Pitbull” Freire while the second defeat was his latest fight against current champion Pettis.

Pettis, brother of former UFC champion Anthony Pettis, is a dominant champion in Bellator. In Bellator, he held four fights and earned victories in all of them. His latest bout was against legendary Kyoji Horiguchi, where he earned a fourth-round knockout victory.

After suffering an injury, he posted on social media.

“Well Bellator should be announcing today that I’m out the tournament for a million dollars,” Pettis wrote on his Facebook.

“I sustained a injury last Monday that will put me out for 6-9 months and I’ll be getting my first surgery after years of competing. It just wasn’t meant to be and I’ve come to peace with that. Definitely depressing but I’m ready to get this ball rolling and return asap.”
