Sergiy Derevyanchenko Issues Statement Following Loss To Jermall Charlo

Sergiy Derevyanchenko has spoken out on his defeat at the hands of Jermall Charlo.

On September 26, Derevyanchenko challenged Charlo for the WBC Middleweight Championship. The bout went the distance inside an empty Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Derevyanchenko fell short via unanimous decision.

Derevyanchenko hopped on his Instagram account to issue the following statement on his loss to Charlo.

It’s time to say something. Before and after the fight I got so many messages and calls from the people, which I know and don’t know. It was very pleasing to hear, how many people rooting for me and wish me success, how many fans believed in my victory.

And it’s so hard for me, to read that you guys were disappointed. It’s all meant a lot to me. It means that my message in the boxing to my fans going the right way.

We are – athletes, and we do our job for the people, firstly. We all work hard for your emotions in the arena or in front of your TV. Happiness and pride for your favorite athlete always connect people, makes you feel fantastic. But sometimes it makes you fill upset after lose. Unfortunately.

That’s why I will continue my journey in boxing for those people, who believe in me. I will continue my hard work and do it with even more relentless and quality.

With the loss to Charlo, Derevyanchenko has now dropped his last two bouts. He is now 0-3 in major title fights. In those championship outings, he’s lost to Charlo, Gennadiy Golovkin, and Daniel Jacobs.
