Serious Testing For Lima-MacDonald

For the finals of Bellator’s Welterweight World Grand Prix, both welterweight champion Rory MacDonald and former champion Douglas Lima are under the microscope.

Per MMA Fighting, the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation has tested both men numerous times in the lead up of their fight on October 26th at Bellator 232.

Michael Mazzulli, the MTDAR director, who also serves as the Association of Boxing Commission’s President, has been Bellator’s key resource for drug testing for cards outside of the United States and has been in charge of the testing for the highly anticipated rematch between the two fighters.

With a win, MacDonald finishes a compelling tournament run that nearly saw him retire after a majority draw in April against Jon Fitch, then defeated Neiman Gracie in the semifinals earlier this year inside Madison Square Garden.

Lima’s road to a potential $1 million dollar redemption came with a win Andrey Koreshkov and then a first-round knockout of Michael “Venom” Page back in May.

MacDonald was able to beat Lima in 2018 after a brutal war for the welterweight crown in MacDonald’s second fight for Bellator, the Canadian suffered so much damage from Lima’s leg kicks, he needed to be carried to the locker room.
