Shakur Eyes PBC Deal After A FaceTime With Mayweather

Shakur Stevenson could sign with PBC after having a FaceTime with Floyd Mayweather.

Stevenson is a free agent following his win over Artem Harutyunyan. Shakur turned down a $15 million five-fight deal from Top Rank to explore other options. He is the current WBC Lightweight Champion, with an undefeated 22-0 record. However, the narrative is that Shakur fails to entertain.

His fight with Edwin De Los Santos was booed due to his defensive style, even if he was injured while coming into the fight. Meanwhile, fans made some jeers during the Artem fight, with some leaving the arena before the final round. Eddie Hearn has expressed his intention to speak with Shakur, as the Matchroom Boxing promoter referred to him as one of the best P4P fighters.

Oscar De La Hoya has also expressed his intention to speak with Shakur by lining up a possible fight with William Zepeda. A deal with PBC could get Shakur the Gervonta Davis fight. However, they are unlikely to pay him big purses since he does not sell well on PPV. It appears Shakur is exploring all options. The following image shows the two on a call, with Shakur looking for the best deal.

“He’s trying to fight the best out there, he’s asking to fight the best. I believe his contract is coming to an end so hopefully we can come together and I can take him to the next level and give him the fights that he wants and make the fights happen that he wants,” Mayweather stated
