Shakur Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs) has dismissed a potential fight with O’Shaquie Foster (25-3, 12 KOs), despite previously indicating that he would face the WBC junior-lightweight champion at either 135 or 140 pounds.
Stevenson instead named Lamont Roach Jr., Gary Antuanne Russell and Raymond Muratalla as more appealing options for his next fight.
“I owe myself my word about that guy? I don’t got no loyalty towards him. Like I said, Lamont, Gary and Muratalla are all better options than fighting a 130 pounder. If I’m gone be hated regardless I don’t owe y’all anything either, keep hating, I’m gone continue to elevate,” Stevenson
The comments followed an interview in which Stevenson questioned Foster’s résumé and again identified Roach, Russell and Muratalla as more attractive opponents.
The rivalry intensified after Foster defended his WBC junior-lightweight title against Raymond Ford on May 30. Ford, who trains alongside Stevenson, lost by majority decision.
Stevenson and Foster exchanged words following the fight, and Foster subsequently challenged Stevenson to face him at either lightweight or junior welterweight.
