WBO Junior Welterweight Champion Shakur Stevenson (25-0) has expressed interest in dropping back down to lightweight for a shot at IBF champion Raymond Muratalla (24-0), despite his last win which was at 140lbs against Teofimo Lopez on January 31.
The four-division world champion has called out the likes of Devin Haney (WBO Welterweight Champion) and Ryan Garcia (WBC Welterweight Champion). However, the sticking point has been the weight. Shakur has asked for a rehydration clause when facing fighters at 147, while also proposing a catchweight as an alternative to any such clauses.
Neither of those demands have worked, leaving Shakur to consider a move back down to 135. Shakur had the WBC belt but was stripped of it after moving up to 140 to face Lopez, meaning he could now become a two-time champion at 135 if he faces Muratalla.
“I would love to make that fight happen. I think that Raymond Muratalla is a great fighter. He is long, tall, and he has got a great right hand,” Muratalla said
