Shakur Stevenson Vs Emanuel Navarrete Won’t Be Happening Anymore

News broke yesterday that Shakur Stevenson and Emanuel Navarrete were closing in on a fight, but those talks have already gone stale.

TalkSPORT’s Michael Benson tweeted Thursday afternoon that the deal was in its final stages, but Navarrete said he will be facing Eduardo Baez on August 20.

Earlier on Thursday, ESPN’s Salvador Rodriguez said that Stevenson would defend his super featherweight belts against WBO featherweight champion Navarrete in either August or September.

But since that plan has fallen apart, Stevenson could be paired with IBF super featherweight titleholder Joe Cordina or the winner of Roger Gutierrez vs. Hector Luis Garcia.

Stevenson has been named in a number of potential fights ever since overcoming former boxing champions Jamel Herring and Oscar Valdez.

The 24-year-old New Jersey native has been tied with fights against lightweight champion Gervonta Davis and welterweight champion Terence Crawford.

Stevenson responded to Benson’s report of the fallout, saying: “Just know I was wit it.”
