Shakur Stevenson has put Devin Haney on notice by calling out the undisputed champion for his next fight.
Following Haney’s unanimous-decision win over Lomachenko, Stevenson was on hand to make it clear that he wanted Haney next after expressing his belief that Lomachenko should have been given the victory.
Despite this being the case, in his post-fight presser, Haney made it clear that he was keen on fighting the ‘face of boxing’ Gervonta Davis.
This may explain the American’s hasty exit from the ring, as Stevenson was left to address the media without Haney in the ring. With that being said, Stevenson made it clear that he was ready for Haney.
“Nah, I don’t need one more fight [at 135]. I’m ready to fight as soon as he’s ready. He just fought. So as soon as he’s settled down and can get himself together, I’m ready to fight.
“My honest words that I would have to say to them [Haney & his dad Bill] is it’s time. This is the moment that we’ve been waiting for our whole lives. It’s time. Let’s make it happen,” Stevenson
As of now, Haney remains a free agent following the expiry of his deal with Top Rank. And as long as that remains the case, the chance for a fight with Stevenson is still a long way away.
