Shane Mosley, the former 3-division world champion who suffered a loss to Floyd Mayweather in their 2010 clash, rated his power ahead of Manny Pacquiao.
Mosley, who went 12 rounds with Mayweather and suffered a decision loss despite a near-knockdown in the second round, offered a nuanced take on what makes Mayweather dangerous. Mosley noted that Mayweather’s “snap” and timing are what truly differentiate him. While Mosley acknowledged that Pacquiao’s power is “explosive and overwhelming,” he argued that Mayweather’s accuracy makes him equally dangerous. That may prove to be a telling factor, as Mayweather and Pacquaio will rematch on September 19.
“I was surprised about his power. When you attack Floyd, he has a way of making you run into it and you feel the power like a collision. But when you kind of box away from him, yes he has power but not like he does when you try and attack him. He’s not weak, he’s strong, he trains hard and does all the things you’re supposed to do as a champion to be the best,” Mosley said
