Shawn Porter Labels Davis Vs. Stevenson As The Best Fight In Boxing

Shawn Porter has branded a potential Gervonta Davis vs Shakur Stevenson bout as the best fight in boxing.

Both fighters are undefeated as they make their way through the lightweight division. Davis’ last fight was a seventh-round TKO win over Ryan Garcia.

Meanwhile, Stevenson announced himself to the division with a sixth-round-stoppage win over Shuichiro YoshinoAs of now, both Davis and Stevenson’s futures are unclear.

The former was sentenced to 90 days of house arrest and three years of probation over a hit-and-run incident. As part of this arrangement, Davis was required to remain at his trainer Calvin Ford’s house.

However, it was later discovered that Davis had been living at the Four Seasons hotel and had recently purchased a $3.4 million home in Baltimore, neither of which were reported to the authorities.

Consequently, Davis was taken into custody. In contrast, Stevenson is the WBC mandatory for Devin Haney. But as the latter is considering moving up to 140 lbs, the belts may become vacated.

And if that were to happen, Davis and Stevenson would be primed to face each other. And that is something that Porter wants to see.

“When I look at the way both fighters box, I think it’s a match made in heaven. It’s the best fight in boxing to be made and I think it will happen next year.

“There is a specific recipe required, I believe, to beat Tank, and I honestly believe that Shakur has the gifts, the talent, the athleticism, everything, within that recipe,” Porter
