Shawn Porter Makes Prediction For Potential Jermall Charlo vs. Demetrius Andrade Fight

Shawn Porter has a prediction for a possible showdown between Jermall Charlo and Demetrius Andrade.

Charlo is the WBC Middleweight Champion, while Andrade has his hold on the WBO gold. Following his unanimous decision victory over Sergiy Derevyanchenko, many are clamoring for Charlo to take on a bigger name such as Canelo Alvarez or Gennadiy Golovkin. There’s also Andrade who like Charlo, is undefeated in his pro boxing career.

During an interview with Fight Hype, Porter said that Charlo is aware of the danger that Andrade could present (via BoxingInsider.com).

“Here’s the thing. With Charlo you have to make him think and move his feet. From what I’ve seen, he has problems with guys that move and busy. It’s almost like with he’s a step behind when a guy is busy and moving. I think that Andrade is that fighter that can move, bring the fight to you and the most rangiest guy in boxing. He’s also a southpaw at that. That would be a lot for for Charlo to prepare for. Honestly, that’s probably why he doesn’t mention his name. He knows that’s a tough fight for him.

“He’s one of the more intelligent boxers out there and I think that’s a very tough fight for Jermall Charlo. I think Andrade would win that fight.”

As it stands now, Charlo’s pro boxing record is a perfect 31-0. On April 21, 2018, Charlo captured the interim WBC Middleweight Title with a second-round knockout win over Hugo Centeno Jr. Charlo was eventually promoted as the main champion.

As for Andrade, he became the WBO Champion with his unanimous decision win over Walter Kautondokwa back on October 20, 2018. He’s had three successful title defenses.
