Shevchenko vs. Eye Being Targeted For UFC 238

Valentina Shevchenko’s first UFC Women’s flyweight title defense could take place later this summer.

The UFC is reportedly trying to finalize a deal that would have Shevchenko face Jessica Eye at UFC 238 in June. Although the fight has not been agreed upon, it is said that the UFC is finalizing that fight.

Shevchenko, a former women’s bantamweight title challenger, moved down in weight last year and won a shot at the flyweight title after submitting Priscilla Cachoeira in February 2018. At UFC 231, Shevchenko won a unanimous decision over Joanna Jedrzejczyk to win her first UFC title.

Eye has won three straight after winning just one of her first seven fights since joining the UFC back in 2013. Eye had a very successful 2018 where she won all three of her fights, most recently against Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 231 as well, and is currently ranked No. 1 in the UFC women’s flyweight rankings.

UFC 238 is scheduled to take place in Chicago at the United Center on June 8. No fights have been officially announced for the event.
