Shields-Habazin Ratings Down From Shields-Hammer
Despite the chaos and controversy surrounding their super welterweight title fight, Claressa Shields’ history-making win over Ivana Habazin fell in the ratings.
A peak audience of 288,000 watched Shield’s 10-round unanimous decision win over Habazin, while the average viewership was 255,000 for the fight emanating from the Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Shields’ last fight, her historic middleweight unification win over Christina Hammer from Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall saw a peak audience of 369,000 viewers and an average of 339,000 for their April Showtime broadcast.
That number was also down from Shields’ June 2018 win over Hanna Gabriels, which had a peak audience of 410,000 viewers and an average of 376,000 watching the Shobox: The New Generation broadcast from the Masonic Temple in Detroit, Michigan.
