Shogun Rua-Rogerio Nogueira III Booked For UFC 250

A Pride creation will have its possible final last moment of glory, as Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira are set to face off at UFC 250 on May 9. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto was the first to confirm the news, following a conversation with UFC President Dana White.

Rua (26-11-1) will be fighting in his 21st UFC fight, where he is 10-9-1. His last fight was a split decision draw against Paul Craig back in November. The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion is 4-1-1 in his last six fights.

Nogueira (23-9) joined the UFC in 2009, and has amassed a 6-6 record. His last fight was a knockout-loss to Ryan Spann at UFC 237 in May. In his past six fights “Lil Nog” is 2-4. He has contemplated retirement recently, but it is unknown if this will be his last bout.

Two Pride standouts, Rua has beaten Nogueira twice. The first time was at Pride Critical Countdown 2005 in June. Rua beat him via unanimous decision in a Pride Middleweight Grand Prix Quarterfinal bout. The next time they fought was almost ten years later at UFC 190 in Brazil. Rua once again won the bout via unanimous decision.

UFC 250 takes place inside Ginasio do Ibirapuera. There is no announced main event at this time.
