Showtime Announces Garcia-Thurman, Jack-DeGale

A welterweight title fight between Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman is one of the most intriguing matchups in boxing, and it has finally been made for next year. Showtime/CBS announced the bout along with a host of other fights on Tuesday.

Garcia and Thurman will fight on March 4, provided that Garcia wins his upcoming November squash match against Samuel Vargas. Garcia and Thurman are the clear best welterweights in the world but a fight has failed to materialize, a fact that Garcia has received the brunt of the blame for. Taking fights like his next one against Vargas has hurt Garcia’s reputation, but that is all washed away once he steps into the ring with Thurman in March.

The fight will air either on Showtime or CBS.

Showtime also announced six more fights, including the previously reported January rematch between Carl Frampton and Leo Santa Cruz and a super middleweight unification bout between Badou Jack and James DeGale.

The complete announced upcoming lineup of fights:

December 10
Jesus Cuellar vs Abner Mares
Jermall Charlo vs Julian Williams

January 14
Badou Jack vs James DeGale

January 28
Carl Frampton vs Leo Santa Cruz II
Dejan Zlaticanin vs Mikey Garcia

February 11
Adrien Broner vs Adrian Granados

March 4
Danny Garcia vs Keith Thurman
