Showtime Secure Rights To Joshua Pulev
It will be Showtime who will be airing the upcoming heavyweight fight for Joshua’s IBF crown in a mandatory defense against Kubrat Pulev.
Joshua has had a multi-fight agreement with Showtime, Joshua’s promoter,Eddie Hearn has the right to shop his fights to other American television outlets, namely HBO. Joshua’s fights typically air on pay-per-view in the United Kingdom (Sky Sports Box Office).
Showtime was the outlet that aired Joshua’s most recent fight, an instant classic against Wladimir Klitschko in April of 2017, prior to a re-airing on HBO of Joshua’s 11th round knockout of the now retired Klitschko.
More than 70,000 tickets already have been sold to the lower-profile Joshua-Pulev bout, which will take place at Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
The week following Joshua-Pulev, Showtime have the rights to the other major heavyweight showdown for the WBC crown as Deontay Wilder and former WBA interim champion Luis Ortiz fight at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. If Joshua and Wilder secure victories, their handlers plan for the two to meet sometime in 2018.
