Silva Blames Supplements For USADA Failure

Anderson Silva not only denies that he knowingly used performance-enhancing drugs, but said he had no incentive to do so.

As reported by MMA Fighting, Silva was stopped by TMZ this week and asked about his recent failed PED test prior to UFC Shanghai, and replaced by Michael Bisping.

“Maybe the supplements I’m using are contaminated,” Silva told TMZ. “I don’t know. I’m just waiting. Because obviously if I take these steroids, I’m stupid. I’m too old. I’m not at the start of my career. I’m [at the] finish.”

SIlva, 42, told reporters that he and his legal team are working with USADA on the test. The popular former champion tested positive for methyltestosterone (an anabolic steroid) and a diuretic from a sample collected on October 26th.

“I’m just waiting for USADA and my lawyers,” Silva said. “And hopefully they came back soon for fight for Roy Jones.”

Roy Jones Jr. recently retired from boxing recently, called out Silva and Dana White to make the fight Silva and Jones have wanted for years.
