Silva Pulls, Cro Cop Calls Him Out
The 2016 RIZIN Grand Prix was scheduled to feature the trilogy bout between Mirko Cro Cop and Wanderlei Silva; however, those plans have been scrapped.
Silva has pulled out from the tournament, and to say it angered Cro Cop might be an understatement.
As of now, Cro Cop is still booked for the RIZIN tournament and will face a new opponent to be determined. Cro Cop and Silva faced off twice in PRIDE — going to a draw in 2002, and Cro Cop winning by knockout in 2006. The tournament will take place on Dec. 29th and go until New Year’s Eve.
Former UFC interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin will also participate in the tournament, his first time competing since 2013.
