Site For Whittaker & Adesanya Unification Set

Rober Whittaker and Israel Adesanya have gotten their stadium, as the two men will look to unify the middleweight championship at UFC 243.

First reported by Combate, the two will headline the October 5th card inside the 60,000 seat Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, home nation of Whittaker and the neighbor to Adesanya’s home country of New Zealand.

This will mark the first defense of Whittaker’s title, winning the then interim middleweight title against Yoel Romero at UFC 213. Two chances to defend the title would be kiboshed, as he’d defeat Romero in a 2018 rematch that saw the challenger miss weight, pulling the title from contention, and Whittaker being pulled from fights against Luke Rockhold and in February a fight with Kelvin Gastelum in Australia due to emergency hernia surgery.

Adesanya returns to the Octagon after winning all six of his first UFC appearances, with his most recent wins coming over Anderson Silva and Kelvin Gastelum to become interim champion last April.
