Sky Reportedly In Talks With Several Promoters Over New Boxing Deal
Following the conclusion of its £36 million ($48 million) broadcast deal with Boxxer in June—which has since transitioned to the BBC—Sky Sports is reportedly looking for a new partner.
Sky is currently in negotiations with several promoters to secure a new deal for domestic and international boxing. Sky’s previous deal with Boxxer was signed in June 2021, marking a new era for Sky Sports after their long-standing relationship with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing came to an end. Their first official UK card under the deal took place in October 2021, featuring Chris Eubank Jr.
The partnership was known for its “Boxxer Series” tournaments and for bringing high-profile women’s boxing to the forefront, including the Savannah Marshall vs. Claressa Shields rivalry. Sky Sports also held major PPV events over the past 40 years, featuring the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Oleksandr Usyk and Manny Pacquiao. Insiders suggest that these potential agreements are moving at a steady pace and could be finalized within the next month.
