Smokin Jo & Antonina Defend Titles

On Friday, Nov. 18, Lion Fight hosted its 33rd event from the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn. The night’s main card aired live on AXS TV.

In the main event of the evening, Jo Nattawut put his super welterweight title on the line against challenger Hassan Toy.  Nattawut cruised to victory in this bout, Toy had no answers for the devastating back roundhouse kicks from Smokin Jo.  Hassan was not able to let his hands go in this fight because Nattawut would constantly crowd Toy not allowing him to throw any meaningful shots of his own.

The co-main event saw women’s lightweight titleholder Antonina Shevchenko make the first defense of her title against Ilona Wijmans.  Antonina’s straight shots found their way through the guard of Wijmans all night and the Russian Shevchenko defended her title with little resistance.

Finally, a new super middleweight champion was crowned when Regian Eersel took on Jake Purdy. Regian is undoubtedly the most aggressive fighter in the Lion Fight promotion and that was evident by the multiple knockdowns he scored on Jake Purdy.  The fight was officially ruled a TKO victory due to punches for Eersel.
