The last time that a fighter commanded figures of a similar nature was none other than Floyd Mayweather Jr.
This was most notably seen during his fights against Connor McGregor and Manny Pacquiao. With that being said, the cost of the Tank-Garcia fight is considerably lower than the anticipated price of $100.
That is why the projected buys are expected to challenge the numbers that Mayweather had so consistently managed to garner.
Oscar De La Hoya has already talked up the prospect of the fight generating millions of pay-per-view buys, which in part is because Garcia does have cross-over appeal, having garnered a huge following on social media.
In his comments, he said: “We’re all working together to blow this one out of the water. We want to make sure that this event here, because it’s such a special fight, we want to make sure that this fight does 2, 2.5, 3 million homes … Realistically, close to 2.5.”
Despite that being the case, the boxing community has yet to resonate well with the current price point.

Most people don't order ppv anymore. They have out priced people and they have had to look for other way to watch it. https://t.co/z3b9tJ5N2E

That price is insane though. Especially when you are paying for a ufc ppv at 74.99 I know I won’t double dip.
