Son of ‘The Million Dollar Man’ Ted DiBiase has been charged with intending to defraud the government. Brett DiBiase pled guilty to the charges before a federal court last week.
Brett DiBiase is a retired professional wrestler and referee. He is well known for his time with the WWE between 2008 and 2011.
The 34-year-old is a former FCW Florida Tag Team Champion alongside Joe Hennig as The Fortunate Sons.
His charges can have him behind the bars for five years and a $250,000 fine. Additionally, The former wrestler’s admission to the charges is part of a deal that will have him serve as a witness in the federal government’s ongoing investigation into the scandal.
This case has been named the ‘Mississippi welfare scandal’ which involves the alleged theft and misspending of tens of millions of federal welfare funds. The theft allegedly occurred under the administration of former governor Phil Bryant.
At the last hearing, DiBiase was joined in court by his father, mother Melanie, and brother Teddy, with whom he once held the World Tag Team Championship title.
Both Ted and Teddy are also accused of benefitting from the scandal. They are being demanded to return $5 million in welfare funds they received.
