Song Yadong Submits Deiveson Figueiredo In UFC Macau Main Event

On Saturday morning in Macau, China, home country favorite Song Yadong submitted former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo in the second round of their headlining contest with a constricting guillotine choke.

Coming into this match, Song suffered a setback when he met Sean O’Malley in January at UFC 324, where he fell short on the judges’ scorecards and lost unanimously. This victory served as an excellent way to bounce back after losing to a former champion by defeating another.

Through the loss, Figueiredo now finds himself on a two-fight skid in 2026, as he also suffered a defeat in his first match of the year against Umar Nurmagomedov. Since moving up to the bantamweight division from 125-pounds in 2023, Figueiredo has appeared in the octagon eight times, but has now come up short on four of those occasions.

As Song was already in the top five at 135-pounds heading into this match, the victory should keep the ‘Kung Fu Kid’ in the title conversation alongside Corey Sandhagen, Sean O’Malley, Umar Nurmagomedov, and Merab Dvalishvili, who are all looking for their shot at champion Petr Yan.

In the event’s co-main event of the evening, Alonzo Menifield stopped China’s Zhang Mingyang in an impressive TKO victory. Through the win, Menifield added an eleventh win to his 17-fight run in the UFC, while Mingyang suffered his second loss in five matches.
