Sonnen-Machida Near Deal For Bellator Fight

Two men who had were unable to face off in the Octagon will get their chance to fight inside the Bellator cage, as Chael Sonnen and Lyoto Machida are finalizing terms for a fight later this year.

According to Ariel Helwani, Sonnen and Machida will be facing off at a yet to be announced Bellator event over the summer, with the two fighting at light heavyweight.

Sonnen, who not only fights for Bellator, but acts as an analyst for their broadcasts and ESPN, last fought in October, losing to Fedor Emelianenko in the semi-finals of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix.

This will mark Machida’s second fight for Bellator since signing with them last spring. The former UFC light heavyweight champion won his debut in December taking a split decision from Rafael Carvalho.
