Sonnen vs. Ortiz Does 1.85 Million Viewers

Bellator 170 presented a blockbuster main event for the promotion, as Tito Ortiz fought for the last time against fellow ex-UFC star Chael Sonnen. The hype translated into a high viewership, as the promotion has announced that the show peaked at 1.85 million viewers during the main event.

The promotion announced the viewership numbers in a press release on Tuesday.

Sonnen vs. Ortiz was the most watched Bellator fight since last February, according to Bellator. (That night in February marked the last fight of Kimbo Slice, and also a legends’ rematch between Royce Gracie and Ken Shamrock).

The fight was a successful swan swong for Ortiz, who submitted Sonnen in the first round.

The co-main event which featured Paul Daley knocking out Brennan Ward was watched by 1.7 million viewers.

Overall, Bellator 170 delivered an average of 1.4 million viewers, making it the third most watched show in promotion history.
