Sor Rungvisai Slated To Fight Estrada

On Saturday night Srisaket Sor Rungvisai defeated Roman Gonzalez emphatically in their rematch, stopping the man known as “Chocolatito” in the fourth round  at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

With the victory, Sor Rungvisai retained the WBC super flyweight title in the rematch of their battle at Madison Square Garden, and now has to focus on a potential opponent who also fought on the card in Carson.

Juan Francisco Estrada overcame Carlos Cuadras in a  hard-fought twelve round decision in a WBC eliminator for the 115-pound title.

The promoter of Saturday’s event Tom Loeffler, said of that potential fight…

“I think that’s a great match-up. I was sitting next to Peter Nelson(the head of HBO Sports) and he’s invested heavily in the super flyweight division and so that’s a natural match-up and we’ll just have to figure out what’s the best show to put it on.”

Barring any suspensions due to injury from the State Athletic Commission, Loeffler believes that we may not have to wait long for this fight.

“It looked like Sor Rungvisai came out pretty clean and it looked like Estrada didn’t take many punches. So if it makes sense, we can try to do this by the end of the year or early next year.”
