Shane Mosley has recalled how Errol Spence Jr. inflicted some damage on Terence Crawford during a sparring session.
No one is immune to sparring stories, given the huge discrepancy that can emerge as time passes.
Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis have butted heads over who came out on top during their sparring session.
This could explain why Spence may not have recalled the session during his press tour with Crawford in the build up to their fight on July 29th, 2023.
Not only that, but there is always the possibility that Crawford has evolved as a fighter since then. And yet, Mosley couldn’t help but point out what he had been told.
“I can only go by what I heard that Spence kind of did some damage to Crawford when they sparred. It’s going to be hard for him to fight with a guy he’s been in the ring with before, and they both know each other. They both know what’s going on,” Mosley
Nevertheless, Crawford’s record at welterweight speaks for itself. The WBO champion has stopped all of his opponents at welterweight, including a stoppage win over Shawn Porter, something which Spence could not do.
And as Crawford has grown into the weight class, any such sparring session may not be as relevant as it was before. Time will tell.
