Errol Spence Jr. has expressed his desire to fight only Terence Crawford next.
The unified champion would be looking to become undisputed at 147 lbs, with only Crawford’s WBO title preventing that.
However, the fight has faced many stumbling blocks in trying to get it made. Crawford alleged that Spence had been offered $25 million in order to make the fight happen.
However, that did not materialize as Crawford went on to fight David Avanesyan. Meanwhile, Spence has continued to be inactive with his last fight coming against Yordenis Ugas in April 2022.
On top of that, Spence has been involved in two car-crash incidents with fears that he may not be the same fighter mentally. In addition, his inactivity has raised question marks over whether or not he can make 147 lbs again.
After all, Spence is known for being a lot bigger than that weight class. And yet, Spence made it clear that this is the fight he wants.
“I’m a man of my word. I’m not trying to fight anybody else but him. Me and Crawford, we’re talking directly. We were on the phone for 30 minutes. It went well, and our teams are still negotiating. It’s going very well,” Spence
Despite this being the case, there is a danger that the fight may come with both fighters being past their prime.
Boxing fans have experienced this when there were suggestions that Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao’s fight had come too late.
With that being said, boxing fans expressed their displeasure at the hold up.
