Spence To Fight Ocampo On June 20th In Dallas
After his victory over Lamont Peterson, Errol Spence Jr planned on making his next fight in his hometown. Its come to fruition, as Spence will face undefeated mandatory chalenger Carlos Ocampo on June 20th inside the Ford Center in Frisco, Texas.
Spence Jr, who grew up in Dallas will be defending his IBF welterweight title in the first boxing event at the Ford Center, which acts as the practice facility for the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.
“It’s known how energetic and exciting the sport of boxing is, but to be able to host IBF World Champion Errol Spence Jr. here at The Star to represent our city, and his home town, will be an unforgettable experience for all,” said Dallas Cowboys Chief Operating Officer Stephen Jones.
Its been three years since Spence last fought in Dallas, when he knocked out Alejandro Barrera, and Spence is excited to work with his favorite football team.
“This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now… I’m a big Dallas Cowboys fan, I’m looking forward to fighting on the campus of Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters. “.
Coming off a knockout victory over Dario Ferman, the 22 year old Ocampo is looking to not miss out on his chance to become world champion.
“I’m training very hard for my fight against Errol Spence Jr.,” said Ocampo. “This is the opportunity that I’ve worked my whole life to get and I’m coming to take Spence’s belt on June 16. I will give the fans a very exciting fight and show once again what Mexican fighters are made of.”
