Spence & Tszyu’s Goals During Fight This Weekend

Errol Spence Jr. (28-1, 22 KOs) and Tim Tszyu (27-3, 18 KOs) are both confident that their Saturday fight ends before the final bell.

Spence is returning for the first time since Terence Crawford stopped him in the ninth round in July 2023. Spence made it clear he is not fighting to silence his critics — he is fighting to answer something to himself.

“There are definitely a lot of questions about how I’m gonna come back. I’m ready and I’ve been training hard. There’s no pressure on me, because I’m not trying to prove something to anybody. I’m looking to prove to myself that I still have it. I’m gonna put on a great show. We’re gonna both come to fight and I guarantee you it’s gonna end early,” Spence

Tszyu, fighting in front of a home crowd for what he considers the biggest opportunity of his career, was equally direct: “I want to punch him everywhere as hard as I can. It’s not personal, but of course I want to make this his last fight. Of course.”

Victory over Spence would immediately reshape Tszyu’s position in the 154-pound division, and the former champion already has a specific target in mind. Asked whether he would prefer Jaron Ennis or Xander Zayas as a next opponent, Tszyu said he would welcome both before settling on one name: “Probably Ennis. He’s the champ.”
