Spence Vs. Crawford Winner Will Decide The Rematch Weight Class
The winner between Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford will reportedly have the right to decide the weight class for the rematch.
The two fighters will shortly meet for the undisputed welterweight showdown on July 29th, 2023, with the winner becoming the first undisputed champion in the four-belt era.
One fighter will lose their undefeated record, as the other will go down as the best in the era.
However, the existence of a rematch clause on both sides has opened up further doors.
The loser will have 30 days to enact the rematch, however, the victor will decide the weight class as to whether it is 147 or 154.
Realistically, a rematch will likely take place at 154. Spence has made it clear that this will be his last fight at 147 since he is a naturally big welterweight.
As for Crawford, the WBO champion has spoken previously about wanting to move up to junior middleweight.
Regardless of what the case may be, both fighters know that they must get things right the first time round.
