Spence vs. Porter Live Results

Two welterweight titles and potential rule over the division are up for grabs when undefeated IBF champion Errol Spence Jr. and WBC champion Shawn Porter do battle in the main event of a Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) pay-per-view card at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Often referred to as one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world today, Spence has been dominating just about all of his opponents since his November 2012 debut. He claimed the IBF title with an 11th-round knockout of Kell Brook in May 2017. He made two successful defenses in 2018, finishing Lamont Peterson in seven rounds before a first-round knockout of Carlos Ocampo.

Spence has had one pay-per-view bout earlier this year, when he faced the challenge of then-unbeaten WBC lightweight champion and four-division titlist Mikey Garcia. Spence wasn’t able to finish off Garcia but dominated the fight from bell to bell en route to a one-sided unanimous decision.

Porter is in his second reign as a world welterweight champion, claiming the WBC title with a decision win over Danny Garcia in September 2018 and retaining in a controversial split decision against Yordenis Ugas in March. He previously held the IBF title, winning that belt from Devon Alexander in December 2013. He made one defense of it against Paulie Malignaggi before losing it to Brook.

Porter also attempted to win the WBA championship in June 2016 but lost a decision to then-champ Keith Thurman.

The featured bout of the undercard will see Anthony Dirrell defending the WBC super middleweight championship against former champ David Benavidez. It will be Dirrell’s first defense since winning the then-vacant title against Avni Yildirim in February.

Dirrell previously won the title from Sakio Bika in August 2014, only to lose it to Badou Jack eight months later. Benavidez held the title from September 2017 to October 2018, but he was stripped of the title after testing positive for cocaine.

The pay-per-view portion of the card will also see the vacant WBA super lightweight title on the line when undefeated contenders Mario Barrios and Batyr Akhmedov square off, as well as a 10-round welterweight battle between former title challengers Josesito Lopez and John Molina Jr.
