Spence Wants To Punish Crawford

Errol Spence Jr. aims to punish Terence Crawford when they square off on July 29th, 2023, for the undisputed welterweight championship.

Crawford enters the bout as the slight favorite, as the WBO champion spoke about how he would make the ‘big fish’ Spence ‘suffocate’ during their press tour.

Spence is the naturally bigger man, as the ‘Truth’ has been at the weight class much longer. His wins over Kell Brook, Mikey Garcia, and Yordenis Ugas demonstrated the unified champion’s ability to break down fighters.

With that being said, Spence aims to impose his will on Crawford.

“I find it amusing and take it with a grain of salt. It doesn’t bother me what people say. I know what I’m going to do and what kind of performance I’m going to put in.

“There were a lot of relevant people in the sport who were saying what Mikey [Garcia] was going to do to me, and I didn’t get it at that time and proved everyone wrong. It’s the same thing I’m going to do on fight night on the 29th.

“I’m going to do the same thing I always do. Punish my opponent. I’m going to put on a great performance like I always do. It’s going to be entertaining,” Spence

Nevertheless, Crawford is no ordinary welterweight. Bud has stopped all of his opponents at 147 lbs, and Spence will be the obvious target come fight night.

And that is why the bout is so intriguing, as it could go either way.
