Stephen Espinoza Likes The Possibility Of Crawford Vs. Ennis
Showtime’s Stephen Espinoza has talked up a fight between Terence Crawford and Jaron Ennis.
Following Bud’s win over Errol Spence Jr. to become the first undisputed welterweight champion of the four-belt era, Ennis became the champion’s IBF mandatory.
Although that may have been the case, there is a rematch clause with Spence, which the ‘Truth’ expressed to have at 154 pounds.
And with both fighters looking to move up to 154, a bout with Ennis may not occur. And yet, if the Spence rematch does not happen straight away, then there is a chance that Crawford does face Ennis.
And that is what Espinoza is hopeful of seeing.
“[Crawford] is the undisputed champion, and there are mandatories. The IBF has a mandatory coming up [Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis]…I love the Boots fight. I think it’s the best fight that can be made in the welterweight division. That’s a toss-up. You put Thurman, Boots & Crawford in the mix. Any two of those three fights is a top-tier fight.
“I haven’t spoken to Crawford about it or his team. Look at what he’s been saying publicly. It’s been pretty clear. His preference probably is Charlo. If that can’t happen, then a big fight at 147,” Espinoza

I have NO doubt Boots is ready to be Champion of the world. I have NO doubt Crawford is THE Champion of the world. Crawford/Ennis would be a Throwback Boxing delight. I can dream. #Boxing

He know he isn't ready.
Remember this, he didn't take the WBO route.
Now he's singing a different tune because he probably thought Spence was going to win.
