Stephen Fulton, Brandon Figueroa Scheduled For November 27 Junior Featherweight Unification Fight
The Stephen Fulton versus Brandon Figueroa matchup has a new fight date.
Fulton and Figueroa will be putting their 122-pound titles on the line in a unification battle on November 27 in Las Vegas, Premier Boxing Champions announced Thursday.
The main event, which will be aired on Showtime, was originally set for Saturday, September 18, but it was postponed after Figueroa tested positive for Covid-19.
Fulton (19-8, 8 KOs) won his WBO junior featherweight title – also referred to as super bantamweight – after a unanimous decision victory over Angelo Leo in January. The 27-year-old is ESPN’s No. 2 ranked junior featherweight.
Figueroa (22-0-1, 17 KOs) claimed his WBC junior featherweight belt with seventh-round knockout of Luis Nery in May. The 24-year-old boxer is ESPN’s No. 3 ranked boxer in the division.
The undercard will feature Ra’eese Aleem versus Eduardo Baez and Gary Antonio Russell – the younger brother of Gary Russell Jr. — will face Alejandro Barrios in a 118-pound opening bout.
Figueroa previously said he wasn’t underestimating his upcoming rival.
