Stephen Fulton Vs. Brandon Figueroa II Targeted For February 25
Fulton won the first fight by majority decision.
The rematch between Stephen Fulton and Brandon Figueroa is reportedly happening.
That’s according to boxing journalist Dan Rafael, who said that it will be a 12-round bout and is likely to happen on February 25. They’ll be fighting for the vacant WBC interim world featherweight title.
The WBC featherweight title – which the two will be fighting for – is projected to be vacated by champion Rey Vargas, who is going up to 130 pounds to fight O’Shaquie Foster for the vacant WBC super featherweight belt.
Fulton and Figueroa first encountered one another in November 2021, which ended in Fulton walking away with a majority decision. He successfully retained his WBO world title and took away Figueroa’s WBC strap.
There was talk about Fulton facing undisputed bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue, but the status of that is unclear. On Friday, Inoue announced that he is vacating his undisputed title to move up to super bantamweight.
Subriel Matias and Jeremias Ponce are also reportedly scheduled for the co-main event on the same card. It was originally booked for February 11.
