UFC’s Stephen Thompson has provided some insight into Conor McGregor’s mentality .
Reports indicate that the Irishmen is set to come back for his first fight since his loss, which was accompanied by a broken leg, to Dustin Poirier by facing Michael Chandler.
Since his time away from the Octagon, McGregor has been in rehabilitation, as well as coaching on The Ultimate Fighter.
And it was in the latter venture that Thompson got a close-up of McGregor’s work ethic as he trained with the ‘Notorious.’ With that being said, this is what he observed.
“I got a call from Conor asking me to be a guest coach. I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? It was really cool… He inspires his team, he’s 100% in with his team every step of the way which I love because that’s what I do for a living.
“I teach for a living. To be able to see him with compassion for those guys and want to see them win, he puts everything into his guys. I love that.”
“Oh yeah [he’s got the fire back], I could see it every time he talks, every punch he threw, he was like swinging at somebody. You could see it in him,” Thompson
Time will tell if McGregor can live up to those words on his comeback.
