Stephen Thompson, Tyron Woodley May Appear In ‘Cobra Kai’ Series
“Cobra Kai” is racking up views.
The sequel to the 1980s “The Karate Kid” films have been praised as a strong blend of drama, martial-arts action and a heavy dose of nostalgia for some older audiences.
It’s hardly surprising that a martial arts-themed sitcom would reach out to genuine martial artists. Stephen Thompson, a real-life karateka, may have been the best candidate for a cameo.
The former title contender disclosed that not only is he engaged with the program, but so is Tyron Woodley, a former MMA champion turned boxer.
“I chatted with him not too long doing some Cobra Kai stuff. I can’t really give too much away but we were there hanging out [on set], and yeah, the beef has been squashed,” Thompson told The MMA Hour.
“Since then, he’s awesome and fun to hang out with while we were there. I didn’t get to hang out with him a ton but while we were there on set.”
Thompson refused to reveal their position. but did indicate they will not appear in the upcoming season, which premieres later this month.
It may be some time before we see the combatants acting on television, but both guys will be on the scene this weekend in very different roles.
On Saturday, Stephen Thompson will face Belal Muhammed in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 45. On the same evening, Woodley seeks vengeance over Jake Paul in a boxing rematch of their October fight.
