Stephens-Rodriguez Re-Booked For UFC Boston

One eye poke, a small riot, and a hotel brawl later, Yair Rodriguez and Jeremy Stephens will have their rematch on October 18th inside the TD Garden in Boston

The news, initially broken by ESPN, gives both fighters less than a month to prepare for the rematch of their UFC Mexico City main event, that saw Stephens suffer an unintentional eye poke from Rodriguez, yielding a no-contest.

Stephens demanded a rematch with Rodriguez following the fight, even more so in the days after when the two featherweights nearly brawled inside their hotel lobby, hurling insults and one calling the other a homophobic slur.

Per MMA Fighting, Stephens suffered a corneal abrasion and must have a doctor’s clearance to compete or suffer an 180-day suspension.
