Sterling Targets A Rematch With O’Malley – ‘Rematch 2024, I’ll Be Back’

Aljamain Sterling is desperate to run things back with Sean O’Malley before he considers moving up to featherweight.

Sterling lost his bantamweight belt after he was stopped in the second round, as O’Malley became the new champion.

That ended Sterling’s nine-fight-win streak, as he suffered his first loss since 2017.

Prior to their UFC 292 clash, Sterling’s intention was to move up after this fight, given that the 135-pound limit was getting harder to make.

But now that he has suffered a defeat, Sterling is keen to rectify the loss.

Nevertheless, O’Malley’s first defense could end up being against Marlon Vera. There is a slot open for a main event at UFC 296 on December 16th, 2023, which could be filled by O’Malley.

Meanwhile, O’Malley also entertained the idea of a boxing match with none other than Gervonta Davis. Although that is unlikely to happen, it shows that the champion is only looking forward.

Therefore, unless there is a big desire from the public to see it once again, Sterling may not get his wish. Time will tell.
