Stevenson Gets New Opponent for July 13

Former Olympic silver medalist Shakur Stevenson has yet another change in opponent for his July 13 bout in front of a hometown crowd at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Franklin Manzanilla withdrew from the contest for unknown reasons and has been replaced by another former title challenger in Alberto Guevara.

Stevenson has won all 11 bouts he’s had in his professional career since debuting in April 2017. Over the past nine months, he scored early finishes of Viorel Simion and Jessie Cris Rosales before a unanimous decision win over Christopher Diaz as part of the undercard for Terence Crawford vs. Amir Khan.

Guevara challenged for world bantamweight titles twice within a year — losing a December 2012 IBF title fight to Leo Santa Cruz and getting knocked out in a November 2013 WBC title fight with Shinsuke Yamanaka. Guevara most recently dropped a decision to Hugo Ruiz in January, which snapped a three-fight win streak.
