Story Of UFC Founding Featured In New Movie

While the UFC celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2018, the story of its formation is coming to the big screen.

On Tuesday, Deadline announced that Mandalay Sports Media will produce a feature film on the beginnings of the UFC and the influence of co-founder Rorion Gracie.

Mandalay Sports Media will fund the film via its joint venture with IMG, a subsidiary of Endeavor, the majority owners of the UFC

The movie, entitled Gracie will follow the start of the MMA brand and how it was a vehicle for the Gracie’s brand of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. The film is set to be written by Robert Specland and produced by Mike Tollin, Mason Gordon, Mark Card and Gordon Gray, per Deadline. Gracie co-founded the UFC with Art Davie.

“‘Gracie’ is the latest film project to take shape under the MSM/IMG output deal,” Tollin said. “Considering the close relationship between the Endeavor Content Group, IMG and UFC, this immediately becomes a priority project for us.”
