Strawweight Main Event Highlights Invicta FC 41 In July
Not wasting any time, Invicta FC is looking to come back to action with a bang. After announcing that Invicta FC 40 will take place on July 2, the promotion went on to add another event. This time, it will be at the end of July.
Invicta FC 41 will take place in Kansas City on July 30 and will air on UFC Fight Pass at 8 p.m. ET. The main event will feature a pair of strawweight contenders: Janaisa Morandin v. Montserrat Ruiz.
Morandin (10-3) made her MMA debut in 2013. Following a nine-fight win streak to start her career, “Evil Princess” lost her Invicta debut in 2017 against Livinha Souza. She is 1-3 with the promotion, her last bout a TKO-loss against Emily Ducote in August 2019. Ruiz (8-1) lost her Invicta debut in December 2018 following an eight-fight win streak to start her carer. She lost to Danielle Taylor via unanimous decision.
The co-main event will feature Erin Blanchfield v. Stephanie Geltmacher in flyweight action. Blanchfield (5-1) made her pro debut in 2018 and started with Invicta later that year. She owns a 4-1 record in Invicta and has wins over top fighters like Kay Hansen and Gabriella Gulfin. “Cold Blooded” won her last bout in February at Invicta FC 39, beating Victoria Leonardo via knockout. Geltmacher (5-1) fought in Bellator before joining Invicta in July 2018. She is 2-1 with the promotion, last fighting in a losing effort against Leonardo in August 2019.
The Kansas Athletic Commission will be keeping an eye on the event and there will be no fans allowed inside the unnamed arena. Fighters and their corners will be tested for COVID-19 before the event, and additional safety guidelines will be released soon.
