Superfly 2 Draws 753K Viewers
HBO’s sequel to 2017’s “Superfly” fell short of the original, as an average of 639,000 people would watch Srisaket Sor Rungvisai pull out a narrow majority decision victory on February 24th.
According to a report from Boxing Scene, HBO’s main event Saturday night between WBC super flyweight champion, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai and Juan Francisco Estrada drew a peak audience of 753,000. Sor Rungvisai-Estrada averaged the aforementioned 639,000 viewers according to Nielsen.
Sor Rungvisai came up the winner on Cathy Leonard and Steve Morrow’s scorecards (115-113, 117-111). Judge Dave Moretti scored the fight evenly (114-114), giving Sor Rungvisai his second successful title defense.
The ratings fell short of the rematch between Sor Rungvisai and Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez in September of 2017, where a peak audience of 835,000 viewers and an average audience of 796,000 watched Sor Rungvisai score a fourth round knockout.
