Superkombat Reaches Deal with CBSSN

Superkombat, one of the biggest kickboxing promotions in Europe, has reached a deal with the CBS Sports Network to broadcast six events on TV in 2017, Combat Press reports.

The broadcast schedule will be released in the future. Superkombat, which is based out of Bucharest, Romania, features talent from all over Europe, especially Romania. While most bouts are held under kickboxing rules, some MMA rules have occurred in the promotion due to MMA’s growth in popularity over in Europe. The TV broadcasts will see North American and international kickboxing and MMA athletes competing.

The promotion’s 2016 World Grand Prix in Comanesti was the most attended kickboxing event in Europe since the K-1 World Grand Prix in 2007. Popular Romanian actor and kickboxing champion Ionut Iftimoaie defeated Francisco Javier Jorge Loren to win the Superkombat cruiserweight title in Iftimoaie’s retirement fight.
