Tank Davis’ Next Fight Moves Closer

Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) and Floyd Schofield (19-0, 13 KOs) are reportedly closing in on a WBA lightweight title fight for September or October, with contracts being exchanged between the camps.

The WBA ordered the mandatory defense weeks ago, giving both sides until June 22 to reach a deal before the fight proceeds to purse bids. Davis last fought in March 2025 in a controversial majority draw with Lamont Roach Jr. Schofield enters the fight unbeaten and ranked No. 1 by the WBA at lightweight after working his way steadily up the rankings. Schofield last boxed in June 2025, as he stopped former world champion Tevin Farmer. A fight with Davis represents an opportunity for his first world title.
